⇒ The New Year is here and that means a fresh start for all of us. One thing you might not have done very well in 2016 was make family worship/ devotions a priority in your home. In our fast- paced, never stop world, it is very easy to let our responsibilities of training and equipping our children in the Lord to slip. I want you to know there is grace for you. All of us, at some time or another have failed in this area. Even though it is easy to get busy in our world, I pray that this year we would examine our hearts to ask ourselves, “What am I actually busy doing?” If what we are doing are things that are not pleasing to God, may we seek to rid ourselves of that activity or activities and replace that time by spending time with our family in the Word, in prayer, and even in singing together the great truths of the Word of God! With that said, I do want to encourage you to begin intentionally discipling your family. I have put together some of the following resources to help encourage you to that end. ⇐
What about Catechisms?
“Catechisms approach the Christian faith in a question and answer format and invariably include Scripture to go along with them. If you structure your time around a catechism, do ensure you give attention to an associated Scripture passage.” – Tim Challies
Here are a few great Catechisms you can go through as a family. Make these fun and enjoyable and see that learning the truths of who God is and all that He is done is one of the greatest things that we can do together! With Catechisms, we can simply sit down together, ask the question at hand, and learn the answers together while making sure we are learning “why” that is the right answer (because it is what God has revealed in scripture).
New City Catechism– This is a new one that you can download onto your device or you can do it online. It has videos from trusted pastors, authors, and theologians whereby they seek to help us better understand the theological concept at hand.
Baptist Catechism (Adapted by John Piper)- This is a Catechism that has been adapted by renowned author and pastor, John Piper. At the beginning, he explains to us how to best use catechisms and why (from scripture) they are beneficial to us.

This resource may be the best one that I can recommend to any parent wanting to get serious about discipling their family!
